Rhodes 19 Nationals, 2007: Zane Yoder finished
5th in the Rhodes 19 Nationals, being held at Chicago Corinthian Yacht
Club.
Knost Regatta 2007:
FYC's Knost team finished 6th in Pass Christian. The top three finishers
were Bay Waveland, Buccaneer and Pass Christian. Competing for FYC were
Randy Fitzpatrick, Catie Yeager, Trin Ollinger, Cassidy Wainwright,
Jessica Yeager and Mindy Russo.

Gulf Coast Finn Championship 2006:
Congratulations to Lou Nady who won the Finn Championship, which was held
in conjunction with Wadewitz. Lou won solid with three 1st place
finishes.
Star World Championships 2006:
Mike Dorgan, a former
FYC Junior, and Jim Buckingham, finished 9th overall in the Star World
Championships at St. Francis Yacht Club. Congratulations Mike and
Jim.

Middle Bay Light Regatta:
Byron Yoder, on Wild Cherry, wins 1st in Class and 1st in Fleet, PHRF
Spinnaker. Fred Chadsey, on Kaotic, wins 1st in Class and 1st in
Fleet, PHRF Non-Spinnaker. Congratulations Byron and Fred!!

Lost Bay Regatta: Zane Yoder
wins Lost Bay Regatta. Zane took 1st in class, 1st in fleet and the
Paul Schreck Perpetual Trophy. This was Zane's 7th overall win of
Lost Bay. Congratulations Zane!!
Take the "Search" Out of Search &
Rescue: Under an agreement with the FCC and the USCG, Boat U.S.
is giving boaters free ID numbers for marine radios with Digital Service
Calling (DSG), a new radio technology that makes it much easier to
identify and find a boat in distress.

BUDDY
BEISER FISH REEF CEREMONY
T. R. "Buddy" Beiser, a long-time member of
FYC, was honored on Thursday, May 5, by the Alabama Wildlife Federation
and Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, renaming the
rehabilitated Upper Bay Barge Reef off Montrose the "Buddy Beiser Upper Bay
Barge Reef." Left, Mr. Beiser is presented with a mock of the sign
which will be posted on the reef.

US Sailing Sailor of the Week
Congratulations
to FYC's Dauphin Island Racers: In spite of the
near gale winds and rough seas, Fairhope Yacht Club sailors fared very well
in the Dauphin Island Race, bringing home many of the perpetual trophies and
particularly the Governoršs Cup, which is given to the Bay club with
the most winning boats in the DI Regatta. This is the fourth consecutive
year our racers have brought home the Governor's Cup for FYC.
FYC Women Finish 4th at Knost
2006 (PCYC): FYC's Knost team, Emily East, Catie Yeager,
Cathy Cromartie, Randy Fitzpatrick, Jessica Yeager and Mindy Russo,
finished 4th at the Knost Regatta, the all-female capdeville event.
Buccaneer Yacht Club took the win, breaking a seven-year winning streak of
PCYC, with SYC and PCYC finishing 2nd and
3rd, respectively. Congratulations to Bucs Amy
Kleinschrodt, Sarah Hall, Jackie Culberson, Ashley Hall, Melanie Wacker,
and Kara Kimbrell on their 1st place finish.

FYC Juniors (2nd from right) get a good start
off of the line at the 62nd Junior Liptons hosted by SYC. Sailing for FYC
were skippers Michael Whaley, Eddie Adams and Kylie Dekin. Crewing for FYC
were Blake Wainwright, Cassidy Wainwright and Brady Ficken. Congratulations
to our Juniors, and all competitors, on a well sailed regatta.
