Fleet News:
FYC's three Flying Scots have been cleaned and placed back into their lifts on A-Dock in preparation for the spring season. Additionally, the lifts have been adjusted so that the Scots drain properly during rain. Replacement parts are ordered and a punch list of to-do items is being completed to get the boats in shape. The boats will be ready for racing, instruction and check outs by March. If you wish to sail before then, call John Helmstadter or John French and we'll get you going, just give us a little notice. A fourth Scot is being rebuilt and will come online shortly thereafter.
Also, the Flying Scot Sunday fun races will begin again in the spring. Stay tuned for an exact date (hint: It needs to warm up a little!).
How to become checked out in a club sailboat:
FYC currently has three Flying Scots and one Rhodes 19 available for general membership use. To use the sailboats you must demonstrate sailing proficiency and be familiar with the club's policies regarding their use. You must be checked out in each model of sailboat you wish to use. For a check out, please contact FYC Adult Sailing
Coordinator John Helmstadter at (956) 495-5147. John is also willing to teach or just ride along while you get "back in the groove" of sailing. John French and Dick Davis are also available to assist when John is unavailable. We want you sailing, come get checked out or take lessons!
